At Rolleston Primary School The Kapow Music scheme was introduced in September 2024. This is taught across Years 1-6. The scheme is organised into 5 strands – Listening and Evaluating. Creating Sounds, Notation, Improvising and Composing and Performing (singing and playing). Music lessons are taught by the class teachers or HLTAs for an hour a week. Singing assemblies are held weekly where pupils have the opportunity to learn new songs, sing in rounds and be exposed to a range of musical genres and styles. This year we created a media room where music lesson can be taught. Pupils have access to tuned and un-tuned percussion instruments, key boards and Ipads to use technology to compose music such as 'Garage Band.'
