WHAT IS BULLYING?

Year 6 Anti-Bullying Posters from PSHE lessons about 'How Words Hurt'

Anti Bullying Week November Raising awareness.

Are you worried that your child is being bullied?

Here at Rolleston Primary School, we believe every child should be ‘Happy, Confident and Successful’. To achieve this they should have the opportunity to feel safe and secure so that they enjoy their learning.

Bullying is defined as, ‘behaviour by an individual or group, repeated over time, that intentionally hurts another individual or group either physically or emotionally’. Here we define ‘bullying’ as something that happens Several Times On Purpose and encourage our children to Start Telling Other People.

The acronym S.T.O.P. is taught to our children to help them define, spot and stop bullying when it occurs.

We have 2 Anti-Bullying Champions in the school who oversee the prevention of bullying in the first place and investigate any bullying concerns, they are; Miss Hardy (Behaviour and Learning Mentor) and Mr Durkin (Deputy Headteacher).

We have anti-bullying champions selected from the student body and a governor, Karen Lambert, who supports the senior leadership with the procedures in place to deal with bullying at the school.

If you are worried that your child is being bullied there are several ways you can help. Your first port of call is the class teacher. If you have a concern, feel free to ask your child’s teacher about an issue that you or your child are worried about. Senior leaders: Mr Durkin, Mrs Carter, Mr Taylor  or Mr Toon (Head Teacher) are also available by appointment to support and sort any problems with bullying. If you would like to make an appointment to see a member of staff, then please contact the school office on 0116 2782300 or office@rolleston.leicester.sch.uk
