Nursery -The Wild things Place

Welcome to the Nursery!

The Summer Term has arrived!

The year is marching on fast. This term the children will be spending lots of time outside planting seeds. We have sunflowers and beans and a range of other produce such as strawberries, potatoes, yellow courgettes and onions. The children are responsible for watering them and considering the warm weather we are having this will be a daily job.

We will be learning about caring for living things. In Foundation Stage we are awaiting the arrival of duck eggs which will be very exciting to see them hatch. We have tadpoles and caterpillars and will learn about the lifecycle of frogs and butterflies. Towards the end of term we will have a themed week of dinosaurs and transport where the children will be invited to bring their bikes to school each day to ride.

The children are really enjoying Shared Reading with a different Big Book every week. You may find when you share your library book that your child recognises some key words such as 'I' 'the' 'and' 'see' 'to'. They may also tell you about punctuation such as full stops, exclamation marks, question marks, inverted commas and ellipsis.

Towards the end of the term the children will meet their new teacher for F2 and we will plan some transition sessions.

Please remember you can share some of your child's experiences at home via Parent Share on 2simple and you should receive a fortnightly update of your child's electronic Learning Journey via this method.

Spring 2018

This term we welcome all our Nursery children in the morning with the additional support of Miss Hearn. The children are really enjoying Outdoor Learning and are getting more independent putting on their over trousers and wellies! Thank you to those parents who have provided their children with wellington boots and remembered about shoes with no laces!

Thank you to all those parents who attended Parents Evening. As you know the children are practicing writing their name when they arrive and it is great to see so many parents helping with this.

Dough disco is well under way now and the children are really benefitting from practicing their fine finger motor control on a regular basis. This will help them greatly with their writing skills especially their pencil control.

Don’t forget every Monday morning the children are participating in Balanceability. If your child has their own gloves please put them in their pocket.

Our class book is Where the Wild things Are. Don’t forget to dress up as a Wild Thing for World Book Day!

Autumn 2017 - Welcome back! We hope you all had a restful half term.

Baseline assessments are complete and we now know your children very well. Thank you to all those parents who attended parents evenings. It was a great opportunity to show you your child's Learning Journey using our electronic system 2simple. We hope to be able to allow you to view this at home soon. If you haven't done so already please provide us with your email address.

Always remember we are happy to talk to you at any time regarding your child's progress. If you have any photos you would like to share with us which show your child achieving something at home please email them to the school office and they will forward them on to us. You can also write it on a WOWcher just pick one up from the Nursery.

Thank you for your continued support.
