Winter's Child by Angela McAllistar
We have been studying the book ‘Winter’s Child’ by Angela McAllister. The story is about a boy called Tom wishes winter would never end and he meets another boy who shares his love for winter. They play in the snow every day until he realizes that the never ending winter is having a detrimental effect on the environment and most importantly his grandma. He then discovers that his new friend is in fact winters child and he must go before spring can come which is much needed.
We have loved reading the book as it is full of great figurative language that creates an amazing images inside your head. We discussed how both boys would be feeling at each point in the story and then created an alternative ‘Winter’s child’ story from Winter’s Child perspective.
