This is what we are learning about this half term:
Tapherini class have had a fantastic start to the year. The pupils have already been working extremely hard and they are beginning to get a year six attitude.
Our class name comes from the book "Journey to the River Sea" that we are currently reading in class. It is based in Brazil and the Amazon rainforest. Keep an eye on this page for some recent pieces of English and Art work linked to the book.
Here is our class timetable:
Our PE day is Tuesday. Please ensure the children bring their kit in and that they can remove their own earrings - we are not allowed to tape them!
Our morning maths sessions run every Wednesday from 8am. These sessions are really helpful if the children would like any extra support in any areas or if they would like an extra challenge! Free breakfast and a drink is also provided. We have had fantastic attendance so far and we've had some great feedback from the children.
At Rolleston, we think enjoying reading is really important. If you are struggling with recommended reads for your children, please ask me! There is also a good list of age appropriate books for every year group at:https://www.scholastic.co.uk/piecorbett/resources
Writing:
At the moment, we are really focusing on the children's spelling. As well as learning the spellings in their homework books each week, these are some of the spellings that they are expected to know at year 3 and 4:

Maths:
We are currently learning about fractions.
There are lots of fun fractions activities on purple mashwww.purplemash.com/rolleston
(Again, the children have their own login for this).
Times tables practice is always helpful as well as practising the related division facts! Our favourite game to practise them ishttps://www.topmarks.co.uk/maths-games/hit-the-button
