5SP - Deeproots
This is what we are learning about this half term:
Welcome to Deeproots!
Our class book this year is 'Sky Song' by Abi Elphinstone. Deeproots (the name of our class) is the home of the Fur Tribe in the book.
For the first part of this year we've based a whole Literacy unit on the first part of the book. The children have worked really hard to examine the text in order to enhance their own writing. We'll continue to read the book over this term and discover the magical land that is Erkenwald.
In Year 5 reading is really important to us and we definitely encourage all adults to be involved with their children's reading. Please encourage the children in Deeproots to continually fill in their reading records and get them to read to you as much as possible. If you want to discuss what books would be at an appropriate reading age then come and speak to us... we love to talk about reading and books.
